About us
Lister Cleaning Machines is a division of James Lister & Sons Limited, which was founded in 1874 in Tipton by a local schoolteacher, James Lister, as a hardware and ironmonger shop. Although we have grown considerably since then, we have stayed close to our roots, still supplying various types of hardware and industrial/janitorial supplies to a very large customer base, primarily in the Midlands and South Wales.
We remain a privately owned family business with 3 of the owners being the great, great grandsons of James Lister. The family spirit ethos and pride in the tradition of excellent customer service and honesty is a key differentiator in how we do business.
We operate a large fleet of delivery vehicles from our 8 branches and work with customers ranging from small engineering firms to large multinational companies, and from schools and colleges to care homes. Find out more about James Lister and Sons Limited by viewing our lister website.
Lister Cleaning Machines is based at our headquarters branch in Smethwick, but our team are ready to travel anywhere you need them to service your needs!
Back in 1874 we were selling brooms, mops and buckets, the precursors to today’s modern floor cleaning equipment (actually we still sell those if you want…!), but we have moved with the times and now offer the full range of equipment that you might need. You can see why we think we have some reasonable experience in this area! For the last 20 years we have focussed on Nilfisk Cleaning Machines, whose quality and service ethos matches ours.
